Backend Engineering Manager

Role: Backend Engineering Manager (Tax, Networth & AI Insights)
Were looking for a hands-on Backend Engineering Manager to lead and scale the core systems behind our Tax Filing, Networth Tracking, and AI-based Insights products This role is a mix of architect, people leader, and IC someone who can lead a small, high-output team while still owning and building critical backend modules end-to-end Key Responsibilities: Own and scale backend systems powering INDmoneys financial data stack: Tax filing engine Networth aggregation across 10+ asset classes (equity, MF, EPF, NPS, bonds, PPF, etc) AI-driven insights and goal-planning recommendations Lead a team of 46 backend engineers, driving technical excellence, reviews, and mentorship Contribute individually design, code, deploy, and debug major features Architect scalable ingestion pipelines for financial data via: Account Aggregator APIs Gmail Parsing (OAuth) Web scraping automation User-uploaded files (Excel, statements) Design high-performance services that can handle scale with strong data consistency and reliability guarantees Work closely with product, AI, and infra teams to shape how products are built not just what gets built Thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment with minimal process, changing priorities, and many ad-hoc requests Take full ownership of outcomes from idea to production to monitoring and scaling Youre a Great Fit If You Have 7+ years of backend experience, including 2+ years leading teams Have built large-scale, distributed systems or data aggregation engines Can deep dive into code while mentoring others Have in-depth knowledge of Python or Golang and strong AWS fundamentals Can balance speed vs correctness you know when to hack and when to harden Are comfortable with chaos no rigid sprints, evolving priorities, and full autonomy Have strong product sense you care about why we build things, not just how Take extreme ownership youll be responsible for systems millions depend on Why Join INDmoney Solve India-scale engineering problems in personal finance Ship fast, own outcomes, and see impact daily Variety of problem statements to work on, ranging from transactional systems to analytical ledgers to on-prem data center interactions A fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment with a visionary team
