A Backend Developer focuses on server-side application logic and the integration of the business layer with the data layer. They design, develop, and maintain robust server-side code, APIs, and databases to ensure applications run efficiently and scalably.
Key responsibilities include writing clean, efficient code using languages like Python, Java, Node.js, or PHP; building and optimizing RESTful APIs and microservices; managing databases (SQL/NoSQL) for data storage, retrieval, and integrity; implementing security measures such as authentication and authorization; collaborating with frontend developers for seamless integration; debugging and troubleshooting issues; and deploying applications using tools like Docker and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
