Role Overview
The Partner (VC Ecosystem) will play a pivotal role in managing relationships with venture capital firms, family offices, micro VCs, and venture debt firms, with a key focus on gaining deep domain expertise within the startup investment landscape. The role will help onboard investors to the bank and guide them through banking solutions, while also collaborating with the Knowledge Banker – Growth Startups to establish relationships with portfolio startups. The primary objective is to solidify the bank’s presence in the VC and investor ecosystem and become the go-to banking partner for startups and their investors.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing Investor Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with venture capital firms, family offices, micro VCs, and venture debt firms, offering customized banking solutions and advisory. Gain domain expertise within the startup investment ecosystem, understanding the needs of different types of investors and their portfolio companies. Onboard investors, ensuring they understand and utilize the bank's investment advisory services, treasury management, and capital management solutions.
- Acquiring and Managing Portfolio Startups: Work closely with the Knowledge Banker – Growth Startups to target and acquire relationships with portfolio startups of VCs and other investors, ensuring the bank’s solutions are aligned with their growth needs. Act as a trusted advisor to portfolio startups, offering financial solutions such as working capital, growth financing, and transaction banking. Monitor startup growth and maintain ongoing relationships, driving long-term value and retention.
- Strategic Advisory & Market Insights: Advise VC firms, micro VCs, family offices, and other investors on the financial needs and opportunities of their portfolio companies. Work alongside internal teams to develop customized banking products based on investor-specific needs, market trends, and investment strategies. Stay informed about emerging trends and investment models in the startup ecosystem to provide value-added insights to investors.
- Business Development & Revenue Growth Drive business growth by securing VC-backed startups as clients, focusing on deposit mobilization, fee income, and transaction banking services. Identify revenue-generating opportunities for both investors and startups, including transactional services, advisory, and financial products. Track performance metrics and report on progress against KPIs, including startup portfolio acquisition and revenue generation.
- Networking & Ecosystem Engagement: Represent the bank at industry events, investor forums, and VC conferences to increase visibility and expand the bank’s presence within the VC and startup ecosystem. Leverage networking opportunities to build relationships with key startup hubs, incubators, and accelerators, driving new business opportunities.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Work closely with the Knowledge Banker – Growth Startups and internal product teams to align strategies for acquiring and managing relationships with VC firms and their portfolio companies. Guide and mentor junior team members, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and customer-first service.
