Associate, Investment Accounting

Role Overview: As an Associate for the Investment Accounting team at Ares in Mumbai, you will be part of a global team responsible for analyzing new/existing investments, daily profit and loss, accounting policies development, and internal/external reporting. Your primary focus will be on Alternative Credit, Private Equity, and E.U./U.S. Direct Lending transactions, ensuring proper accounting treatment and compliance with policies. You will work closely with various departments including Accounting, FP&A, Compliance, and Portfolio Management to support deal servicing and reporting. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare transaction analysis memos for Private Credit and Private Equity deals to ensure proper accounting in line with policy - Analyze credit terms, fee structures, and syndication mechanisms for revenue recognition compliance - Review admin bookings and investigate profit and loss items, coordinating with third party administrators for corrections - Maintain specific data fields and assist in new systems implementation and data reconciliation - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal processes and work product in a fast-paced environment Qualifications Required: - Education: Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; Chartered Accountant preferred - Experience: 3-6 years of relevant work experience in public/fund accounting or product control - Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills required, exposure to alternative assets, knowledge of investment accounting and the investment lifecycle - General Requirements: Dependable, motivated team player with problem-solving and analytical skills, strong communication and organizational abilities, flexibility in handling multiple priorities, and willingness to learn new skills and technologies Additional Company Details: Over the last 20 years, Ares has built its success on core values such as collaboration, responsibility, entrepreneurship, self-awareness, and trustworthiness.
