Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Lead - Civil Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all civil construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. This role involves leading a team of engineers and contractors, conducting site inspections, and coordinating with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Lead - Civil Construction Technical Management: Provide technical guidance and advice to design staff, supervisors, inspectors, and contractors regarding civil construction practices. Analyze civil engineering issues and formulate effective solutions to ensure compliance with project requirements. Conduct structural analysis and design for buildings across various sectors, ensuring technical quality and compliance with project objectives, safety, and quality standards. Prepare and check detailed structural calculations and review drawings in line with project quality procedures. Develop and review detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates for civil construction projects. Project Documentation: Review project documents, including tenders, specifications, bills of quantities (BOQs), material submittals, and shop drawings for compliance with design intent. Draft and issue site/engineer’s instructions related to civil construction works as required. Review and provide feedback on contractors’ Operation and Maintenance manuals to ensure comprehensive project documentation. Inspection and Compliance: Conduct site inspections to ensure adherence to approved plans, specifications, and best practices for civil construction. Undertake periodic site visits to ensure civil/structural works are executed per design intent. Review general specifications and site-specific particular specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements. Undertake final project snagging and prepare a list of defects for contractor rectification. Review contractor installation method statements and ensure compliance with project requirements. Clearance and Approval: Review contractor shop drawings against design documents and provide comments or approvals within specified timelines. Assess contractor material proposals for compliance with specified performance requirements and advise the Project Manager accordingly. Evaluate the technical qualifications of proposed subcontractors associated with civil works. Contractor Management: Manage and lead civil contractors throughout the project duration, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Supervise the execution of all civil construction activities, maintaining quality and safety standards. Provide clear instructions to the team to execute tasks according to design specifications within designated timeframes. Project Coordination: Plan, organize, and evaluate the work of consultants and contractors to ensure adherence to project standards. Understand project procedures, execution plans, and quality plans to assist the Project Manager in executing project activities effectively. Advise the Project Manager on any technical aspects of civil services that may impact construction progress, including quality issues or potential delays. Attend project meetings and report on progress related to civil construction activities as directed by the Project Manager. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Work Experience (Range of years): Work Experience(Range of years): 10-15 Years Preferred Industry: Experience in in civil construction management within the construction industry, preferably in large-scale projects. Strong knowledge of civil construction standards, methods, and best practices.
