Role Context:
The position shall play a key supporting role in the Planning Division to strengthen the organisation’s planning, monitoring, and evaluation (PME) functions. The position, based in Wildlife Trust of India’s (WTI) Headquarters (thus largely a desk-based job profile), is designed to assist various conservation divisions of the WTI with project planning, progress tracking, mid-term reviews, and impact evaluations. The role requires strong analytical capability, foundational knowledge of wildlife sciences, and an ability to understand the strategic intent behind conservation interventions.
The candidate shall report to the Division Head of the Executive Offices (EO)’s Planning Division and to the Chief of Management in executing all delegated activities.
Key Responsibilities:
a) Assist all Conservation, Management, and Marketing Divisions under WTI in conceptualizing and drafting project plans, logical frameworks, workplans (known as Project Implementation Plans i.e. PIP).
b) Maintain a physical and digital archive of assigned PIP and Project Reviews for the organization’s reference.
c) Coordinate and facilitate Strategic Planning Meetings for projects based on need and as instructed by Head / OiC and PI of Executive Offices
d) Support the development of Theory of Change (ToC) documents for new, ongoing and dormant projects and facilitate inter-departmental coordination during the proposal development stage.
e) Support quarterly, mid-term and end-term evaluations, including preparation of evaluation tools, checklists, and field visit notes
f) Track project performance against planned indicators, timelines, and deliverables of projects and prepare progress reports, dashboards, and summary briefs for internal review and donor reporting.
g) Maintain updated documentation and databases related to organisational projects and strategic initiatives
h) Assist in evaluating organisational-level conservation outcomes and identifying gaps or improvement areas
i) Maintain an MoU database, update the same, and follow up with Division Heads / Project Heads to renew expiring ones if and when required.
j) Provide Technical Assistance to Division Head-Planning, Principal Investigator- Management & CEO as and when required.
Qualification and Experience:
Mandatory
a) At least a Master’s degree in Wildlife Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Zoology, Forestry, or related fields.
b) Fresher or up to 2 years of experience in conservation, planning, or research roles.
Desired Skills
a) Familiarity with project cycle management concepts is desirable (PME tools, Theory of Change, Log-frames, etc.).
b) Ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
c) Good writing and verbal communication skills for documentation and reporting.
d) Detail-oriented, organised, and able to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
e) Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AI tools for data visualisation.
f) Strategic thinker with a passion for wildlife conservation and organisational development
g) Willingness to travel to Project field sites (might be remote as well) when required.
