Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and academically accomplished recent graduate to serve as a Personal Assistant to our Director Technical, Dr. Guddo S. Nadiger. Dr. Nadiger is a renowned expert in advanced materials science, polymers, textiles, eco-compliance, and sustainable fibres, holding key positions both within DPPL and as General Secretary of the Non-Conventional Fibres Association (NCFA).

This is a unique role that goes beyond traditional administrative support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background relevant to Dr. Nadiger's fields of expertise and will have the opportunity to be mentored directly by him. You will provide comprehensive administrative and technical support, assisting Dr. Nadiger in his multifaceted responsibilities spanning R&D, laboratory management, industry association leadership, and consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative & Organisational Support:
  • Manage Dr. Nadiger's schedule, appointments, and travel arrangements (domestic/international).
  • Handle correspondence – screen emails, draft responses, manage phone calls, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare agendas, presentations, and necessary materials for meetings; accurately record minutes and track action items.
  • Organise and maintain confidential files, documents, and technical records, both physical and digital.
  • Technical & Research Assistance:
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, research summaries, and articles based on Dr. Nadiger's guidance.
  • Conduct preliminary literature reviews, data gathering, and information synthesis on topics related to advanced materials, polymers, sustainable textiles, eco-labelling standards, and non-conventional fibres.
  • Support coordination efforts for DPPL's R&D activities under the DSIR-approved centre and laboratory accreditation/upgradation processes.
  • Assist with administrative and communication tasks related to Dr. Nadiger's role as General Secretary of the NCFA, including liaising with members and organizing association activities.
  • Help compile and organise technical data from testing and R&D projects.
  • Communication & Liaison:
  • Serve as a professional point of contact between Dr. Nadiger, internal departments (R&D, Labs, Management), and external parties (NCFA members, industry partners, government bodies, academic institutions).
  • Facilitate smooth communication flow and ensure timely follow-up on requests and action items.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Recent graduate with a Bachelor's (B.Sc./B.Tech/B.E.) or Master's (M.Sc./M.Tech/M.E.) degree in Textile Technology/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific/technical field. A strong academic record is essential.
  • Experience: Freshers (0-1 year experience) are encouraged to apply. Relevant internships or significant academic projects demonstrating research and analytical skills are advantageous.
  • Technical Acumen: Foundational understanding of materials science, polymer chemistry, textile processing, and/or environmental science relevant to the industry. Familiarity with analytical techniques or quality standards (e.g., ISO) is a plus.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly, grasp technical concepts, and apply knowledge effectively.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and able to anticipate needs.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
