Assistant Senior Engineer Duties and Responsibilities

1. Technical Support & Execution

• Assist the Senior Engineer in overseeing technical aspects of project execution including site layout, foundation, installation, and structural works.
  
• Read, understand, and support implementation of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and client requirements.
  
• Ensure work execution follows approved drawings, quality standards, and safety norms.
  
• Provide day-to-day technical support to site engineers, supervisors, and foremen.
  
• Identify on-site technical issues and report them to the Senior Engineer with possible solutions.
  
• Assist in quantity calculations, BOQs, and verification of work quantities.
  

2. Planning & Scheduling Assistance

• Support preparation of work plans, schedules, and daily activity charts.
  
• Assist in coordinating with design, procurement, and other departments for smooth workflow.
  
• Help monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress at site.
  
• Track project timelines and inform the Senior Engineer about delays or constraints.
  
• Assist in preparation of progress reports and site updates.
  

3. Client & Site Coordination

• Support the Senior Engineer during client meetings, inspections, and site discussions.
  
• Assist in coordinating approvals for drawings, layouts, and execution changes.
  
• Maintain professional communication with client representatives at site.
  
• Ensure client instructions are properly communicated to site teams.
  

4. Material Management Support

• Assist in planning material requirements as per project schedule.
  
• Monitor material usage at site and report shortages or excess consumption.
  
• Coordinate with stores and purchase departments for material availability.
  
• Verify material issue slips and assist in maintaining stock and consumption records.
  
• Help ensure materials are used efficiently with minimum wastage.
  

5. Support for New Projects

• Assist in site surveys, feasibility studies, and technical assessments for new projects.
  
• Support estimation, BOQ preparation, and tender documentation.
  
• Participate in initial site mobilization and setup activities.
  
• Assist in supervising early-stage works during project kick-off.
  

6. Manpower Supervision

• Assist in allocation and supervision of manpower at site.
  
• Monitor work productivity and ensure tasks are executed as per plan.
  
• Guide junior engineers, supervisors, and workers in daily activities.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety rules, labor discipline, and site regulations.
  
• Coordinate manpower requirements with the Senior Engineer and HR team.
  

7. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily site records including work progress, manpower, and material usage.
  
• Prepare daily and weekly reports for review by the Senior Engineer.
  
• Assist in documentation of drawings, revisions, approvals, and client communications.
  
• Support preparation of completion reports and handover documents.
  

8. Learning & Continuous Improvement

• Learn and implement best practices in construction methods and site management.
  
• Share observations and suggestions to improve efficiency and quality.
  
• Participate in review meetings and apply learnings to ongoing and future projects.
