Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Industrial Relations (Pre & Post)

  • Pre-IR:

    • Build proactive relationships with union leaders and worker representatives.
    • Identify potential IR issues and risks; prepare mitigation strategies.
    • Support preparation of long-term settlement strategies, collective bargaining plans, and negotiation frameworks.
    • Maintain strong shop-floor presence to gauge employee sentiment and morale.
  • Post-IR:

    • Implement outcomes of wage settlements and agreements effectively.
    • Ensure compliance with settlement clauses and industrial agreements.
    • Monitor and maintain peaceful industrial environment.
    • Resolve employee grievances swiftly through dialogue and documentation.

2. Factory Compliances

  • Ensure 100% compliance with statutory requirements under applicable labor laws (Factories Act, CLRA, ESI, PF, Gratuity, Minimum Wages, etc.).
  • Maintain all statutory registers, licenses, returns, and notices as per norms.
  • Coordinate with internal auditors and government departments for audits and inspections.

3. Union Handling

  • Serve as the first point of contact for union negotiations and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with union bodies and shop-floor representatives.
  • Manage long-term settlement processes and grievance redressal mechanisms.
  • Ensure transparent communication between union and management.

4. Legal Support

  • Coordinate with legal advisors on labor disputes, court matters, or statutory notices.
  • Manage domestic enquiries, disciplinary proceedings, and compliance-related litigations.
  • Draft, review, and maintain IR and legal documentation, notices, and replies.

5. Liaisoning

  • Liaise with external stakeholders including Labor Department, Factory Inspectorate, ESI, PF, Pollution Control Board, etc.
  • Represent the company during inspections, hearings, and meetings with government authorities.
  • Ensure timely renewals, filings, and communications with relevant statutory bodies.
