Position Title: Assistant Manager – Design Location: Lower Parel, Mumbai Experience Required: Minimum 3 years About Baaya Design Baaya Design is an award-winning Spatial Design Studio based in Mumbai. At Baaya, we offer art and product design consultancy for residences, hospitality, workspaces, public spaces, and airports. We’ve worked on iconic projects like Tata Bombay House and Hyatt Regency Dehradun, in collaboration with top Architectural and Interior firms. Our Experience Centre features Signature Artworks and Lighting across multiple Indian art forms with a focus on design innovation. At Baaya, design meets purpose; each project helps preserve heritage and support artisan communities across India. Role Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Design to support the creative and concept execution process at Baaya. This role involves coordination across design and production teams- from active contribution to concept development, to ensuring timely and high-quality project deliverables. Key Responsibilities Design Development & Creative Ideation Deveop design concepts that reflects Baaya’s aesthetic and the client’s vision. Create detailed drawings, presentations, and material boards that align with artisanal and functional design intent. Contribute meaningfully to the evolution of ideas from mood boards to mock-ups and final outputs. Project & Process Coordination Support the Design Manager in ensuring all project milestones are met on time and to the highest standards. Liaise with the production team to bridge the gap between design vision and tangible outcome. Maintain project documentation, timelines, and quality checks across deliverables. Client & Team Communication Participate in design presentations, articulating concepts with clarity and conviction. Integrate client feedback constructively while protecting design integrity. Assist with project proposals, BOQs, and post-project documentation as required. Team Culture & Contribution Be an active voice in internal design reviews and brainstorming sessions. Champion Baaya’s core values of innovation, craftsmanship, and contextual design. Support a culture of collaboration, continuous learning and artistic exploration. Education: Degree/Diploma in Design (Interiors/Spatial/Product/Exhibition Design or other such) from a reputed design school Experience & Technical Skills: 3+ years in multidisciplinary design, with strong skills in ideation, visualization, and execution Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and 3D visualization tools Ability to interpret and produce specification drawings with precision Experience or deep interest in craft/art-based design is a major plus Soft Skills & Personality: Strong communication and storytelling abilities Keen research orientation and design-thinking mindset Leadership skills with a collaborative spirit Passionate about Indian art, culture, and material heritage Self-motivated, curious, and committed to design excellence Show more Show less
