Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager - Tool Room

Industry Preference: Switchgear / Electrical Industry (Preferred)
Experience: 10 to 18 Years
Qualification: Diploma in Tool & Die Making / equivalent.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the tool room operations, including tool design, tool development, and tool proving for metallic components.
• Oversee the design and development of progressive tools, high-speed tools, and complex dies (EI/UI laminations) used in the switchgear industry.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, quality, and R&D) for new product development (NPD) and timely delivery of tooling solutions.
• Ensure cost-effective manufacturing and maintenance of tools and dies, focusing on high quality and minimal downtime.
• Review and approve 3D tool designs using advanced CAD software like SolidWorks, NX, and CATIA.
• Handle troubleshooting and improvements in existing tools to enhance efficiency, life, and performance.
• Develop and implement tooling standards, best practices, and process improvements in the tool room.
• Supervise tool makers and ensure proper training, skill development, and safety compliance.
• Vendor development and coordination for outsourced tool manufacturing or modifications.
• Prepare and maintain all relevant documentation related to tool design, trials, and approval processes.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Expertise in tool and die making, progressive tools, and high-speed stamping tools.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA) for tool and Mould design.
• Strong knowledge of metallic component manufacturing and tool proving techniques.
• Good understanding of switchgear industry tooling requirements (EI/UI lamination, precision stamping).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for tooling and manufacturing issues.
• Hands-on experience with die maintenance, modification, and optimization.
• Effective leadership and team management skills.
• Good vendor management and communication skills.

Preferred Background:

• Switchgear or electrical component industry experience is highly desirable.
• Exposure to automation and high-speed presses.
• Knowledge of quality standards and lean manufacturing practices in tooling.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹900,000.00 - ₹1,700,000.00 per year
