Area Manager - Commercial Vehicle Fleet
About The Role
The Area Manager - Commercial Vehicle Fleet is responsible for overseeing the operations, performance, and profitability of commercial vehicle fleets within a designated geographic area. This role ensures optimal fleet utilization, cost-effective maintenance, regulatory compliance, and superior customer service. The Area Manager will lead a team of fleet supervisors, drivers, and administrative staff, collaborating closely with other departments to achieve business objectives. Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the commercial vehicle fleet within the assigned area, ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations.

Develop and implement strategies to maximize fleet efficiency, reduce operational costs, and improve service quality.

Manage, mentor, and lead a team including supervisors, drivers, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety and performance excellence.

Monitor fleet performance metrics such as utilization rates, downtime, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption.

Coordinate preventive maintenance and timely repairs to ensure vehicle safety, reliability, and compliance with all legal requirements.

Collaborate with the sales, logistics, and customer service teams to meet client requirements and achieve organizational goals.

Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and expenditure reports for the area fleet operations.

Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure fleet compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Handle contract negotiations and relationships with third-party vendors such as maintenance providers and leasing companies.

Investigate and resolve operational issues, accidents, and customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in fleet management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).

Proven experience (5+ years) in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge of commercial vehicle regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.

Proficient in fleet management software and MS Office Suite.

Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.

Ability to travel within assigned area as required.

Work Environment

Office-based with frequent visits to fleet yards, maintenance facilities, and client locations.

May require occasional evening or weekend work to address operational needs.
