Application Engineer

Job Title: Application Engineer – Coated Products Job Purpose The Application Engineer – Coated Products will provide technical expertise and application support to customers, sales teams, and product development functions. The role ensures customer satisfaction by solving technical challenges, guiding product selection, and contributing to the development and optimization of coated steel solutions for diverse industry applications. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Customer SupportAct as the primary technical contact for customers, addressing product performance, application, and suitability queries. Provide expert guidance on coated steel product selection based on project specifications, environment, and performance requirements (e.g., corrosion resistance, formability, aesthetics). Troubleshoot customer issues related to application, processing, or performance failures, and provide corrective solutions. Conduct on-site visits to support product trials, technical assistance, and application assessments. Sales & Business Development SupportCollaborate with the sales team to deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and technical selling support. Translate customer requirements into product specifications for internal teams. Identify new application areas or market opportunities for coated products using technical expertise and industry insights. Support in preparing technical proposals and tender documents. Product Development & ImprovementWork with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to provide market insights and customer feedback for product enhancement. Contribute to the development, testing, and validation of new coated products. Develop technical documentation including datasheets, brochures, and application guides. Knowledge Management & TrainingConduct technical training sessions for sales teams, distributors, and customers on coated product features and applications. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and competitor products in coated steel. Maintain a structured repository of technical information, case studies, and application guidelines. Quality Assurance & Standards ComplianceEnsure all product applications comply with industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with the quality team to investigate non-conformance issues related to product application. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred). 7–10 years of experience in application engineering, technical service, or product support in steel, metals, or coated product industries. Strong technical knowledge of coated steel properties, applications, and industry standards. Proven experience in customer-facing technical support and application troubleshooting. Ability to collaborate effectively with sales, R&D, and production teams. Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
