The Application Engineer/Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, engineering, and customization of control and relay panels (CRP) and switchgear for electrical distribution and protection systems. This role involves interpreting customer requirements, preparing technical drawings, selecting appropriate switchgear components, creating bills of materials (BOM), and supporting project execution from engineering to commissioning stages.

• Design and develop Control & Relay Panels (CRP) and switchgear layout including GA drawings, wiring schematics, single line diagrams (SLDs), and cable schedules.
• Interpret customer specifications, protection philosophies, and project requirements for switchgear systems.
• Customize the design of low voltage and medium voltage panels, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client needs.
• Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for panel fabrication and assembly.
• Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure design feasibility and project delivery.
• Configure and integrate Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), protection relays, and automation components as per SAS (Substation Automation System) architecture.
• Provide technical support during factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
• Troubleshoot design and application issues; make necessary modifications during project progression.
• Ensure adherence to standards such as IEC, IS, and client-specific norms for electrical switchgear.
• Use AutoCAD, EPLAN, or other electrical CAD tools for preparation of detailed electrical drawings.
• Liaise with clients for technical clarifications and site visits if required.
• Assist sales and marketing with technical proposals and product presentations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 4-5 years of experience in switchgear design, control and relay panel design, or related electrical design engineering roles.
• Strong knowledge of electrical panels such as MCC, PCC, APFCR, AMF, DG synchronizing panels, etc.
• Familiarity with relay configuration (ABB, Siemens, SEL, GE, Schneider Electric).
• Proficient in electrical design software (AutoCAD, EPLAN).
• Understanding of protection schemes, substation automation, and IEC 61850 communication protocols.
• Ability to independently handle project designs following engineering standards.
• Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience with medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) switchgear panels desirable.
• Knowledge of standards and regulations relevant to electrical switchgear and protection.

• Experience working with utilities and industries such as PGCIL, NTPC, MSETCL, GETCO, or similar.
• Hands-on experience in technical support during commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Exposure to control systems and automation in substation environments.
