About The Role

Android Build and Integration Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Build & Integration:
• Manage and maintain the Android build environment for multiple projects and hardware platforms.
• Perform daily Android builds, debugging build failures, and resolving dependency or configuration issues.
• Integrate code from multiple development teams and external partners into a unified Android build.
• Ensure stability and performance of integrated builds before release.
• CI/CD Automation:
• Develop, configure, and maintain automated build and test pipelines using GitLab CI/CD and Jenkins.
• Automate build, test, and deployment workflows to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Monitor build health and optimize pipeline performance.
• Yocto & Embedded Build Systems:
• Work with Yocto build system for custom Linux/Android images, BSP integration, and cross-compilation.
• Handle board bring-up and device-specific build customization where required.
• Scripting & Tools:
• Write and maintain Python or Shell scripts to automate build, release, and integration tasks.
• Manage Git repositories, branching strategies, and merge processes.
• Troubleshoot build-related issues across various platforms and environments.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 2–6 years of experience in Android build and integration roles.
• Strong understanding of Android AOSP build system and Android source tree structure.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, and CI/CD pipeline setup.
• Hands-on experience with Yocto build environment for embedded systems.
• Proficiency in Jenkins build automation and configuration.
• Good Python scripting skills for automation and tool development.
• Familiarity with Bash/Shell scripting and Linux environment.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in build and integration contexts.
  

Good to Have

• Exposure to Embedded Android platforms (e.g., ARM-based boards, SoCs).
• Experience in build optimization, caching, and distributed builds.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-based CI systems.
• Understanding of software release processes and version management.

Education
