About The Opportunity
A fast-paced digital services firm in the web development and e-commerce sector seeking a hands-on WordPress intern. You will join a remote engineering team building responsive WordPress sites, custom themes and plugins, and WooCommerce stores for clients across industries. This 70% internship offers practical, mentor-led experience converting designs into production-ready WordPress solutions.Role & Responsibilities
- Implement and customise WordPress themes and child-themes using PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript to match design specifications.
- Build and configure pages using Gutenberg and popular page builders (Elementor) while ensuring responsive, accessible markup.
- Assist in developing and maintaining simple custom plugins and integrations (REST API consumption, webhook handling).
- Perform site performance tuning, basic security hardening, and SEO best-practice checks before deployments.
- Work with designers and senior developers to translate Figma/Sketch mockups into pixel‑perfect templates and reusable components.
- Use Git-based workflows, test locally, and support staging/production deployments with clear documentation.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Foundational knowledge of WordPress: themes, child themes, and plugin concepts.
- Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript (jQuery familiarity preferred).
- Experience building responsive layouts and debugging across browsers and devices.
- Comfortable using Git for version control and a basic local development environment (XAMPP, Local, Docker).
Preferred
- Familiarity with Gutenberg blocks and page builders like Elementor or Beaver Builder.
- Exposure to WooCommerce, REST API integrations, basic performance optimisation, and on-page SEO techniques.
