Welding Engineer

Please find below the JD of welding Engineer for steel casting foundry . We need four welding engineers to be worked in shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures (WPS, PQR) specific to cast materials produced in the sand foundry (Steel castings).

• Evaluate and approve welding methods for repair of casting defects (e.g., porosity, cracks, shrinkage).
• Collaborate with foundry PD to minimize casting defects that require welding rework.
• Support metallurgical analysis and ensure post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) or other requirements are fulfilled.
• Ensure compliance with applicable welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, API).
• Train welders and oversee welder qualification testing and certifications.
• Provide technical support to quality control teams on NDE (non-destructive examination) results and weld integrity.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce welding repair rates and increase efficiency.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related defects or customer complaints.
• Maintain records of welding procedures, welder certifications, and repair logs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5+ years of experience in welding engineering, preferably in a foundry or casting repair environment.
• Certification such as Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or IWE or IWT or AWS or CSWIP.
• Familiarity with steel, and other ferrous alloys commonly used in sand casting.
