Welder / Fitter – Plant Maintenance – Activated Carbon Plant

Position Summary:

We are seeking skilled Welders and Fitters to support plant maintenance and project activities in our Activated Carbon Plant. The role involves fabrication, assembly, repair, and fitting of equipment and piping systems, ensuring mechanical reliability for 24x7 plant operations. The position requires hands-on expertise in welding and fitting in heavy industrial environments with exposure to rotary kilns, conveyors, crushers, blowers, steam pipelines, and structural works.

Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Welding

• Perform arc welding, gas cutting, and fabrication works for plant structures, ducts, hoppers, and chutes.
• Carry out pipe welding (MS/SS) for steam lines, water lines, and utility systems.
• Ensure strong, leak-proof joints and maintain weld quality as per industrial standards.

Fitting & Assembly

• Fit and align mechanical parts, bearings, shafts, pulleys, sprockets, couplings, and gearboxes.
• Assist in dismantling and assembling rotary kiln components, blowers, and conveyors.
• Install and align pumps, motors, and mechanical seals.

Maintenance Support

• Support preventive and breakdown maintenance activities for rotary kilns, crushers, conveyors, elevators, and utility pipelines.
• Assist engineers in equipment overhauls, shutdown works, and project installations.
• Perform sheet metal cutting, drilling, grinding, and finishing tasks as required.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow strict safety protocols during hot work, confined space entry, and equipment handling.
• Maintain tools and welding machines in good working condition.
• Adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements for maintenance works.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification:

• ITI / Diploma in Welding, Fitting, Fabrication, or Mechanical Trade

Experience:

• 2–8 years of experience in industrial welding/fitting, preferably in:
• Activated Carbon / Chemicals / Minerals / Cement / Steel / Heavy Fabrication Industry

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of arc welding, gas cutting, MIG/TIG welding (preferred).
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and fit-up parts accordingly.
• Hands-on experience in alignment, rigging, and material handling.

Language:

• Tamil (mandatory), basic English preferred

• Ability to work under supervision and in teams
• Safety awareness during welding, fitting, and lifting jobs
• Discipline, punctuality, and willingness to work overtime if required

Employment Type:
Full-time | On-site (Ponnapuram Plant)

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting Pay: ₹17,000 per month (based on experience & trade skills)

Ponnapuram, Dharapuram Taluk: Should be willing to relocate or commute reliably. Factory accommodation will be supported if required.
