As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join our infrastructure team and take ownership of our database architecture, performance, and security.
Role Overview
As a Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, managing, and optimizing our Microsoft SQL Server environments. You will ensure data availability, integrity, and performance, while working closely with development teams to support application scalability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, staging, and production environments.
- Design and implement scalable and secure database structures, schemas, and stored procedures.
- Optimize complex SQL queries and conduct performance tuning to improve database responsiveness.
- Lead database upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime, ensuring data consistency and integrity.
- Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitor system health and performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of all DB systems.
- Collaborate with software engineers to optimize application-database interactions.
- Enforce security policies, user access controls, and data encryption standards.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Evaluate and implement industry best practices and tools for database administration and performance.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Strong command of T-SQL, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Expertise in performance tuning, execution plans, and database profiling tools.
- In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery procedures, failover clustering, and log shipping.
- Understanding of database security, roles/permissions, and audit practices.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Reporting Services (SSRS) is highly desirable.
- Experience working in Agile environments and supporting CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, documentation skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
