Role Description

The VTS Operator will monitor and manage vessel movements, ensuring smooth coordination and safe navigation within the assigned maritime zones. Key responsibilities include utilizing Vessel Traffic Services systems, maintaining accurate communication with vessels, and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The operator will respond to emergencies, provide navigational advice under guidelines, and prepare daily reports. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.

Qualifications

• Possession of a valid GMDSS (General Operator Certificate) qualification and familiarity with VTS systems.
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation, and signaling systems.
• Proficiency in communication skills for effective interaction and coordination with vessel operators.
• Ability to stay alert, evaluate situations swiftly, and act decisively in emergencies.
• Adaptability to work under pressure and within a high-speed operational environment.
• Educational background in maritime studies or related fields is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role in Vessel Traffic Services is an advantage but not mandatory.
