Vice President - Operation ( Alloys Steel Plant )

An accomplished and strategic leader is sought to head an Integrated Steel Plant as a Profit Centre Head (PCH). The role involves complete ownership of plant operations, P&L responsibility, strategic planning, and business growth, with strong exposure to EAF, LF, RH, VD, VOD, AOD, Bloom, Billet, Round, Slab, Thin-Slab & Ingot Casting, Wire Rod Mills, and Bar Mills. The position demands deep expertise in specialty steels, stainless steels, and alloy steels used in critical applications such as Power, Oil & Gas, Auto, Defence, Aerospace, etc.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Visionary Leadership

• Define and implement the strategic vision and growth roadmap of the steel plant.
• Develop both short-term and long-term business plans in alignment with industry trends and competitive intelligence.
• Drive organization-wide P&L performance, plant expansion, diversification, and modernization initiatives.

Operations & Plant Management

• Lead operations of the entire integrated plant covering steel melting, rolling, casting, wire rod/bar mills, and finishing lines.
• Spearhead erection, commissioning, and ramp-up of new facilities and process enhancements.
• Oversee resource optimization, cost management, production planning, and supply chain operations.

Project & Process Management

• Manage end-to-end project planning, engineering, vendor selection, commissioning, and ramp-up.
• Implement best-in-class project management tools, budget control systems, and risk mitigation frameworks.
• Initiate process optimization and quality control for continuous improvement and cost competitiveness.

Quality, Testing & Systems

• Lead implementation of quality frameworks ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 10006, ISO 50001, OHAS 18001, TPM, WCM.
• Implement systems for failure analysis, testing & inspection, corrective and preventive actions, and process validation.
• Oversee implementation and audits of quality management systems and ensure customer satisfaction.

Technology, R&D, and Metallurgy

• Drive metallurgical innovation, product development, and technology upgrades.
• Support R&D teams in developing components with reverse engineering, material standardization, and vendor qualification.

Commercial and Vendor Management

• Handle techno-commercial negotiations with equipment vendors, contractors, and service providers.
• Develop customized vendor solutions and manage strategic sourcing for maintenance and operations.

Organizational Development & Leadership

• Build and nurture a high-performance culture aligned with corporate values and safety standards.
• Drive leadership development, succession planning, and employee engagement across functions.
• Maintain harmonious industrial relations, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and promote a safe working environment.
