Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource plans. Track project progress and ensure adherence to the master schedule. Review and approve engineering drawings, P&IDs, GA drawings, and layout plans. Coordinate with design consultants, OEMs, and internal engineering teams. Ensure technical specifications meet process requirements and industry standards. Identify and finalize suppliers for pickling tanks, shot blasting systems, acid handling units, and auxiliary equipment. Monitor vendor performance and ensure timely supply and installation of equipment. Negotiate contracts and resolve vendor-related issues proactively. Oversee site activities including civil, mechanical, and electrical work. Ensure timely and safe erection of equipment and structures. Lead the commissioning team and ensure system readiness for handover to operations. Ensure strict adherence to QA/QC protocols and compliance with ISO, OSHA, and environmental standards. Implement safety management systems and enforce use of PPE and safe work practices. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures. Serve as the single point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. Report progress to senior management and participate in steering committee reviews. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and supervisors.

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical acumen, robust project management capability, and a strong execution focus across all mechanical engineering functions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Engineering & Planning Own the full mechanical scope of capital projectsranging from rolling mills and structural steelworks to reheating furnaces and auxiliary mechanical systems. Interface with consultants and OEMs to finalize layouts, technical drawings, equipment designs, and BOQs. Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and risk assessments. 2. Execution & Monitoring Coordinate mechanical fabrication, erection, fit-up, alignment, piping, and structural works. Drive site-level execution in accordance with timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols. Track daily progress, handle bottlenecks, and enforce timely decision-making. 3. Vendor & Contractor Oversight Identify and onboard mechanical contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers through technical and commercial evaluations. Monitor vendor SLAs, fabrication quality, adherence to design specs, and delivery schedules. 4. Budget & Cost Management Prepare mechanical budgets, project cost estimates, and execution schedules. Ensure cost control through value engineering, process optimization, and waste reduction. 5. QA/QC and EHS Conduct regular inspections, stage-wise mechanical testing, and non-destructive evaluations (NDTs). Ensure compliance with EHS norms, mechanical safety procedures, and statutory requirements. 6. Commissioning & Handover Lead final installation, dry/wet commissioning, mechanical trial runs, and performance validation. Manage documentation, punch lists, and technical handover to operations teams. Candidate Profile: Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory) M.Tech or Project Management Certifications (preferred) Experience: 15-20 years in project execution within integrated or secondary steel manufacturing plants. Proven experience in mechanical commissioning of TMT bar plants, rolling mills, or heavy fabrication/assembly lines. Technical Competencies: Knowledge of static and rotary equipment, material handling systems, industrial hydraulics/pneumatics. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, SolidWorks/Inventor, ERP (SAP or similar). Familiarity with ASME, IS codes, DIN standards, and P&ID interpretations. Behavioral Traits: Strong leadership with cross-functional coordination capabilities. Decision-maker with a sense of ownership and accountability.
