Vehicle Technician

Key responsibilities Diagnosis and inspection: Use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems. Inspect vehicle systems to ensure they are working properly and to prevent future issues.  Maintenance and repair: Perform routine maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks) and complete repairs on various systems like brakes, engines, and transmissions.  Parts replacement: Replace worn-out or broken parts, from brake pads to sensors, to restore vehicle function.  Record-keeping: Document all services and repairs performed, including parts used and labor hours.  Customer communication: Explain vehicle problems and recommended repairs clearly to customers.  Safety and cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all safety protocols.  Continuous learning: Stay updated on new automotive technologies, tools, and repair techniques.  Required skills and qualifications Technical skills: Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and a strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and electronics.  Manual dexterity: The ability to work with a variety of tools and perform tasks that require physical strength and hand-eye coordination.  Attention to detail: Meticulousness in diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and maintaining records.  Problem-solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and find accurate solutions to complex problems.  Education and certification: A high school diploma is standard, but many employers prefer or require certifications from manufacturer-specific training programs or technical schools.  Other requirements: A valid driver's license is often required.
