US Mortgage Underwriter

As a Project Review and Analysis Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive reviews of condo project documentation to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines. Your role will involve analyzing project financials, legal documents, insurance policies, and other relevant materials to evaluate the financial health, governance structure, and overall condition of condo associations. You will also be tasked with identifying and assessing risks associated with lender projects and providing actionable recommendations to mitigate these risks. Additionally, preparing clear, detailed reports and summaries of findings, maintaining accurate records of all reviewed projects, and communicating findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders will be part of your responsibilities. Staying up to date with applicable guidelines, regulatory changes, and industry best practices is crucial in this role to ensure all project reviews are conducted in line with current standards and compliance requirements. Collaboration with underwriting, loan processing, and risk management teams, as well as liaison with external parties such as condo association representatives, project developers, and legal advisors, will be essential. Furthermore, you will support the training of junior analysts and team members on compliance guidelines and review procedures, and provide expertise and assistance to internal teams as needed. Required qualifications for this position include a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, US mortgage, or underwriting. Preferred qualifications include experience in mortgage, banking, or financial services, familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as Basel III or the Dodd-Frank Act, and certification in risk management or credit analysis (e.g., FRM, CFA). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling, strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills are also necessary for success in this role. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities, strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, and high standards of integrity and ethics.
