Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled Renewable Energy Research Analyst to build a comprehensive global database of these assets to support our growth and partnership efforts. This role will be responsible for developing a master database of global stranded geothermal well assets, focusing on existing sites with abandoned or underutilized wells. This role will involve in-depth research to identify and analyze end-of-life and failed geothermal wells worldwide, producing detailed data reports to guide strategic decisions. The analyst will collaborate closely with Business Development Specialists to prioritize target sites for acquisition or partnership, enabling our magma power initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Database Development:

  Build and maintain a comprehensive global database of stranded geothermal well assets, including abandoned, underutilized, or failed wells, with detailed data on location, geology, infrastructure, and operational history.

• Research and Analysis:

  Conduct thorough research on global geothermal sites, focusing on end-of-life or stalled projects due to low permeability or other challenges, and compile actionable data reports for internal stakeholders.

• Data Reporting:

  Create clear, concise, and data-driven reports to support Business Development Specialists in targeting high-potential sites for magma power repurposing.

• Collaboration:

  Work closely with Business Development Specialists to align research findings with strategic goals, providing critical data to support negotiations with site operators, governments, or investors.

• Global Market Research:

  Leverage expertise in global markets to source reliable data from diverse regions, navigating varying regulatory, environmental, and industry landscapes.

• Data Validation:

  Ensure accuracy and reliability of data through rigorous validation, cross-referencing multiple sources such as industry reports, government records, and academic studies.

• Trend Analysis:

  Monitor trends in geothermal energy, renewable energy, and oil & gas sectors to identify emerging opportunities for stranded asset redevelopment.

Requirements

• Experience:

  3+ years of research experience in renewable energy, geothermal energy, or oil & gas sectors, with a focus on data collection, analysis, and reporting. Experience researching global markets is essential.

• Research Skills:

  Strong proficiency in research methodologies, data aggregation, and database management.
• Familiarity with tools such as Excel, GIS (Geographic Information System) software, or other data analysis platforms is a plus.

• Technical Knowledge:

  Background in geothermal systems, subsurface geology, or energy project development. Understanding of well performance metrics (e.g., permeability, thermal output) is highly desirable.

• Global Perspective:

  Proven ability to conduct research in international markets, with an understanding of regional energy policies, geological data sources, and industry practices.

• Communication Skills:

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills to produce clear, actionable reports and present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Education:

  Bachelors degree in geology, environmental science, energy engineering, data science, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MSc in Geosciences or Renewable Energy) are a plus.

• Attention to Detail:

  Strong organizational skills and a meticulous approach to data accuracy and validation.
