Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support the on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server environment, including mailbox management, database maintenance, and troubleshooting mail flow issues.
  • Configure, manage, and maintain Microsoft 365 services, with a primary focus on Exchange Online, Teams (including telephony), and OneDrive for Business.
  • Manage a hybrid Exchange environment, including mailbox migrations and the synchronization of on-premises and cloud identities using Microsoft Entra Connect.
  • Engineer and maintain Microsoft Teams capabilities, including chat, meetings, video conferencing, and advanced features like Direct Routing for enterprise voice.
  • Administer and enforce security policies within the UC ecosystem, such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access policies, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP).
  • Provide third-tier support for escalated incidents related to messaging and collaboration issues, performing root cause analysis to resolve complex problems.
  • Manage and troubleshoot user identities, access control, and integrations within Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks related to the UC environment.
  • Utilize PowerShell scripting for the automation of routine administrative tasks in both on-premises Exchange and Microsoft 365.
  • Monitor the performance and health of all UC platforms to ensure high availability and optimal user experience.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies within the Microsoft 365 and Azure ecosystems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Unified Communications Engineer or in a similar role within a hybrid environment.
  • Expert-level knowledge of on-premises Microsoft Exchange Server (2016, 2019) administration.
  • In-depth experience managing Microsoft 365 services, specifically Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Teams Voice and Direct Routing.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, and identity management.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for administration and automation.
  • Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or Teams Voice Engineer Expert, are a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
