Opening: Two Junior Research Fellow positions on experimental and theoretical quantum optics, precision measurements, & Quantum information and simulations using trapped ions


These prestigious positions are available immediately and intended for early-career scientist

with a valid GATE and JRF-NET score, with support from the National Quantum Mission NQM Quantum Computing TG. The selected fellow(s) will join the research group of S. R.Chanu and the collaborative Quantum technology research community at IITK. Enthusiastic individuals who wish to explore this exciting research and have a strong commitment to excellence are strongly encouraged to apply. The fellowship is available for three years, but extension will be based on satisfactory performance evaluation after each 6 months. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

·      Participate in new and ongoing research in quantum optics, quantum information science, and simulation using trapped ions

·      Participate in the smooth functioning of labs, including procuring instruments and taking initiative in setting up the lab facilities.

·      Lead the ongoing efforts to develop an FPGA-based control system, optical spectroscopy development, and set up labs.

·      Write peer-reviewed publications and technical reports for internal and external release and give technical presentations.

·      Collaborative working students and research interns at Quantum Tech. Labs at IITK.

Basic Qualifications:

·      Experience in experimental & theoretical quantum optics is required

·      Experience in laser spectroscopy, optics, electronics design, and debugging will be highly valued but not necessary.

·      Master's degree in Physics or Quantum Technology, or related field. BTech/MTech in related field

Preferred Qualifications:

·      Excellent communication skills, prefer English written and oral.

·      Independent, motivated self-starter and participate in collaborative works across teams

·      Ability to adapt in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities on multiple tasks within deadlines.
