US Mortgage Underwriting Trainer Overview

delivering training programs focused on post-closing underwriting review, risk assessment, and compliance

Key Responsibilities:

• Training Development & Delivery
• Design and implement

  training programs focused on post-close underwriting reviews, quality control, and compliance.

• Conduct in-person training sessions for freshers on in depth

  underwriting aspects (4 Cs).

• Develop training materials, including manuals, presentations, e-learning modules, and assessments.
• Provide ongoing education on

  Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA, and Non-QM loan guidelines

  . Coaching & Mentorship
• Mentor underwriters to improve post-close review accuracy and risk assessment skills.
• Offer one-on-one coaching sessions and performance feedback.
• Assist in developing individual improvement plans for underwriters. Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Ensure all training aligns with federal, state, and investor compliance regulations.
• Work with the

  Quality Control (QC) and Risk teams to identify common post-close underwriting errors and provide corrective training.

• Educate underwriters on

  TRID, RESPA, ATR/QM, and Non-QM loan compliance

  . Collaboration & Reporting
• Work closely with

  post-closing, quality control, risk management

  , and underwriting teams to enhance training effectiveness.
• Monitor and report on training impact and underwriter performance improvements.
• Stay updated on industry changes, investor guidelines, and compliance regulations.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience with a focus on

  post-close review

  .
• Experience with Non-QM underwriting is a strong advantage.
• Strong knowledge of DU/LP, AUS, ATR/QM rules, TRID, RESPA, and investor guidelines.
• Prior experience in training, coaching, or leadership roles is preferred.
