Job Description

About OosiNool:

OosiNool is a bespoke clothing brand that blends tradition with modernity, creating timeless, ready-to-wear and custom outfits. We believe in telling stories through fashion, and visuals play a key role in how our audience experiences the brand.

Role Overview:

As a Textile Print Designer at Selai, you will be responsible for creating new prints, patterns, and motifs that align with the brand’s aesthetic: elegant, modern, culturally rooted, wearable, and striking. You will work closely with the design team, production, and sourcing to ensure your prints translate well onto the fabrics used (silk, cotton, georgette, organza, etc.) and meet quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Research current trends in prints, motifs, color palettes — especially with reference to Indian textile heritage as well as global fashion trends.

Develop original print designs, repeats, border motifs, placement print layouts etc., keeping in mind the saree format (body, pallu, border).

Create visual presentations / mood boards to propose new print directions.

Work with design software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop) to digitize hand-sketches or hand-drawn motifs.

Create mock-ups / samples; coordinate with sampling / production to convert designs into fabric prints.

Ensure color fidelity, scaling, repeat size, placement is appropriate for different fabric types (cotton, silk, organza, georgette, satin).

Collaborate with sourcing / procurement to choose appropriate printing / digital printing / techniques, ensure cost-efficiency without compromising aesthetics.

Maintain design specifications and technical sheets for print production.

Iterative refining based on sample feedback (e.g. print bleed, color shift, repeat alignment, fabric behavior).

Help maintain consistency of the brand’s visual identity — aligning prints with seasonal themes, collection stories.

Qualifications:

Experience with Indian traditional print / craft (e.g. block printing, ajrakh, zari, motifs from heritage etc.).

Knowledge of or interest in sustainable / eco-friendly printing methods.

Understanding of cost implications: ways to design to reduce wastage in repeats/borders or printing costs.

Innovation mindset: combining traditional motifs with modern design sensibilities.

Good knowledge of fabric types and how prints appear on them (e.g. how color saturation or print sharpness changes with fabric weave / fiber).

Excellent eye for color, detail, composition.

Ability to manage multiple projects / collections simultaneously, meeting deadlines.

Good communication skills to work with cross-functional teams (design, production, sourcing).

A portfolio showing print & surface pattern work (repeat patterns, border / placement prints etc.), especially work that demonstrates print design for sarees or similar large scale drapery / ethnic garments.
