Technical Writer

Responsibilities

• Research, outline, write, and edit technical content, collaborating with various departments to capture project requirements.
• Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
• Translate complex product and service information into polished, engaging, and user-friendly content suited for diverse audiences.
• Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
• Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise and edit content, and determine the best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage.
• Research, create, and maintain information architecture templates that adhere to organizational and legal standards, ensuring scalability and easy data migration.
• Create content in alternative media formats to maximize usability while maintaining a consistent voice across all documentation.
• Continuously evaluate current content and propose innovative methods for improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as an effective technical writer.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
• Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences.
• Excellent written communication skills, with a keen eye for detail.
• Experience collaborating with engineers to improve user experience (e.g., design, UI), refine content, and create visuals/diagrams for technical support.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, communications, or a relevant technical field.
• Strong understanding of the SDLC (Systems Development Lifecycle).
• Previous experience in software development.
• Professional certification (e.g., Society for Technical Communication).
• Experience using XML tools to create documentation.
