Job Description

We are seeking a Software Support Engineer to join our global team spread across different countries such as the USA, Switzerland, Poland, India, Brazil, and Malaysia. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a project of significant global impact, involving cutting-edge technology for navigation, location search, and immersive street-level exploration. As a Software Support Engineer, you will be responsible for remotely supporting the Linux-based mobile sensor system used by our clients worldwide. Should a system failure occur, you will work alongside Hardware Engineers to identify the root cause remotely. Your tasks will include analyzing issues related to equipment connectivity and failures based on error messages, logs, stack traces, troubleshooting procedures, and helper scripts. Additionally, you will play a role in enhancing existing scripts/programs (Bash, Python, SQL) or creating new ones to simplify troubleshooting processes. Your main responsibilities will include: - Providing real-time technical support to users encountering problems with their Linux environments through various communication channels such as phone, chat, and remote desktop sessions. - Diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide range of Linux system issues, including operating system errors, software malfunctions, network connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks. - Conducting thorough root cause analysis of complex issues, proposing effective solutions, and maintaining a library of Bash scripts and command-line tools for automating support tasks and system diagnostics. - Communicating technical information and solutions clearly and concisely to users with varying technical expertise levels, collaborating with internal teams for issue escalation and product improvement, and documenting support interactions accurately in our knowledge base system. - Contributing to technical documentation creation and maintenance, staying updated with the latest Linux distributions, technologies, and best practices, and participating in on-call rotation for 8/5 support. The ideal candidate will possess: - At least 2 years of experience in a technical support role focused on Linux systems administration and troubleshooting. - Proficiency in Linux systems, particularly Ubuntu and Debian, strong command-line interface (CLI) skills, and expertise in Bash scripting for system administration, automation, and diagnostics. - Solid knowledge of core Linux services and protocols, experience with log analysis, system monitoring tools, and performance tuning on Linux systems, outstanding problem-solving skills, and exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. - A customer-centric approach to resolving user issues, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and familiarity with cloud platforms, scripting languages, version control systems, and database management are considered advantageous.
