The Opportunity

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) and HVDC Light are highly efficient alternatives for transmitting bulk power and for special purpose applications. The classic HVDC technology is used to transmit electric power over long distances by overhead transmission lines or submarine cables. It is also used to interconnect separate power systems, where traditional alternating current (AC) connections cannot be used. HVDC Light® is a power transmission technology developed by Hitachi Energy that offers additional benefits compared to HVDC Classic. You will work mainly with electrical design of main circuit equipment in projects with medium to high complexity.

  • You will be involved in projects, tenders, base and R&D work.
  • To grow with each task, enable yourself to develop and take more responsibility. HVDC is a complex product will require time, dedication and effort to learn.
  • You will study and verify the HVDC station design from several different technical aspects.
  • You will handle the interface with stakeholders from other departments, ensuring you understand their needs, and they yours, and to work for a good corporation for best end results together.
  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • You hold a Master degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • You have 5 to 8 years of experience with extensive knowledge of Layout Engineering, electrical and Mechanical Calculations.
  • Understanding and design of Grounding, Lightning, Insulation and EMF Studies.
  • Preferably knowledge on IEC/IEEE standards, proven skills in using computers as a calculation tool.
  • Preferably experience of power system simulation tools such as CDGES, COMSOL, AutoCAD, NX.
  • Extensive knowledge of Power Systems equipment and their purpose, such as Power Transformers, Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformer and measuring equipment, Circuit Breakers, Disconnector, Surge Arrester etc.
  • Knowledge in selection, sizing and integration of above equipment based on customer functional specification.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skill, fluency in English.
