To support the stainless melting shop by assisting in the planning, receiving, inspection, storage, and issuing of all raw materials required for melting operations. The DET will learn and follow standard operating procedures, maintain accurate inventory records, ensure material availability for uninterrupted furnace operation, and comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Principal Accountabilities*
Assist in receiving raw materials such as scrap, alloys, ferroalloys, fluxes, and other consumables.
Verify material quality, quantity, and documentation (GRN, test certificates, supplier documents).
Ensure proper segregation and identification of different grades of scrap and alloys.
Coordinate with stores, procurement, and melting shop teams for smooth material flow.
Support timely feeding of raw materials to the furnace as per charge mix plan.
Maintain accurate daily stock records of scrap and alloy materials.
Conduct physical stock checks and reconcile discrepancies with records.
Monitor material consumption and report shortages to seniors.
Support inventory optimization by reducing wastage, mixing errors, and material losses.
Assist in implementing charge mix plans provided by the melting engineer or supervisor.
Ensure correct weighing and batching of alloys as per grade specifications.
Coordinate closely with furnace operators to meet production schedules.
Maintain 5S and housekeeping in scrap yard and alloy storage areas.
Follow safety protocols during material unloading, stacking, and handling.
Use PPE and ensure safe operation of lifting equipment (cranes, magnets, forklifts).
Comply with quality standards related to grade-wise material selection and inspection.
Support environmental guidelines for waste segregation, dust control, and scrap handling.
