 Job Roles & Duties of a Home Construction Supervisor 1. Site Supervision & Monitoring Oversee daily construction activities at the home site. Ensure workers (mason, carpenter, plumber, electrician, etc.) are working as per plan. Check that the work is done as per the drawing and instructions. 2. Quality Control Inspect material quality (cement, bricks, steel, sand, tiles, fittings). Ensure correct techniques and workmanship are followed. Prevent poor-quality or defective work. 3. Time Management Prepare daily/weekly work schedules. Ensure each stage (foundation, brickwork, plastering, flooring, painting, etc.) is completed on time. Report delays and take corrective measures. 4. Material & Resource Management Check availability of construction materials on-site. Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery. Prevent material wastage and theft. 5. Safety & Compliance Ensure safety rules are followed (helmets, gloves, scaffolding safety). Prevent accidents at the home construction site. Maintain cleanliness and order at site. 6. Coordination & Communication Act as a bridge between owner, engineer/architect, and workers. Convey technical instructions from engineer/architect to workers. Update the home owner about daily progress. 7. Cost Control Monitor material usage to stay within budget. Avoid unnecessary labor or rework costs. 8. Problem Solving Handle on-site issues such as labor shortage, material delay, or technical difficulties. Provide practical solutions to keep work running smoothly. 9. Record Keeping Maintain daily work log. Record labor attendance and material received/used. Share regular progress reports with owner/management. 10. Finishing & Handover Inspect finishing work (painting, flooring, fittings, carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
