Job Description

Job Title: Structural Design Engineer Location: Head Office (H.O), Gurgaon Department: Technical / Design Division Type: Full-Time, (based on appointment) Role Summary: The Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for the review, analysis, and approval of structural designs related to highway infrastructure projects including bridges, flyovers, underpasses, culverts, retaining structures, and related civil assets under the purview of NHAI. This role ensures compliance with IRC, MoRTH, and BIS standards, and supports quality assurance in design aspects during planning and execution. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design Review & Approval       Review and evaluate structural design submissions from DPR consultants, concessionaires, and EPC contractors.       Ensure that design calculations and drawings meet the required Indian standards (IRC, IS codes), MoRTH specifications, and global best practices.       Approve General Arrangement Drawings (GADS) and Detailed Design Drawings (DDDs) for bridges, flyovers, interchanges, etc. 2. Structural Analysis & Modeling •       Conduct structural analysis using software tools like STAAD Pro, MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, AutoCAD, etc. •       Verify design assumptions, load combinations, material specifications, and detailing for RCC and PSC structures. •       Evaluate seismic and wind load design in accordance with coda! provisions. 3. Coordination & Liaison       Coordinate with DPR consultants, Authority Engineers, and PMC teams for clarification of design-related queries.       Liaise with regional project offices (PIUS) and field units to address structural issues during construction.       Attend technical committee meetings and contribute to expert panels when required. 4. Quality Assurance & Compliance       Ensure structural safety, serviceability, durability, and economy in design.       Assist in preparing standard design templates and guidelines for field units.       Monitor and report deviations from approved design documents and suggest corrective actions. 5. Technical Documentation       Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all design approvals.       Assist in drafting circulars, design manuals, and technical notes issued by NHAI H.O. Required Qualifications:       Education: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.       M.E./M.Tech in Structural Engineering preferred.       Experience:       Minimum 5—6 years of relevant experience in structural design of highway infrastructure.       Experience with NHAl/State PWD/consultant organizations preferred.  Software Proficiency: STAAD Pro, MIDAS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office, etc.       Knowledge of Codes:       IRC codes, IS codes, MoRTH specifications, and international bridge codes (if applicable). Key Skills:       Strong technical knowledge of structural systems and materials. ' Analytical thinking and problem-solving in design.       Effective communication and coordination skills.       Attention to detail and compliance orientation. Reporting To: H.O.D (Design)
