REPORTING RESPONSIBILITY TO :- Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides expert bedside care to critical patients for whom complex assessment and treatment are required in critical area and focus on patients who have undergone invasive surgery, accidents, trauma or organ failure.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Implements and maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Assess patient s vital signs and lab data to determine emergency intervention needs.
3. Set up monitor, medical equipments and devices such as cardiac monitors, ventilators and alarms, oxygen delivery devices and transducers.
4. Assist physicians with procedure such as endotracheal intubation, elective cardio version, bronchoscopy, endoscopy and ICD insertion etc.
5. Monitor patients for changes in status like pupillary reaction, GCS and indication of condition such as sepsis/ shock and institute appropriate interventions.
6. Conduct nursing intervention like wound drainage, catheterization, suctioning to delegated patients within the scope of practice..
7. Assess patient s psychological status and needs including areas such as sleep pattern, anxiety, grief and anger.
8. Collaborate with other health care professional to develop and revise treatment plan based on identified needs and assessment data.
9. Assess patient s pain level and sedation requirement.
10. Document patient s medical history and assessment findings, treatment plans, intervention, outcome/plan revision.
11. Identify patients who are at risk of complication due to nutritional status.
12. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in intravenous access, the management of central venous catheter, venepuncture.
13. Practice advanced life support in order to facilitate rapid stabilization and the appropriate ongoing management of patients who develop acute treatment complications.
14. Deliver seamless service through the development of enhanced communication with key stake holders and patient care contributors.
15. Refer patients who present with most complex needs to the appropriate specialist including their families who require more in-depth support and counseling.
16. Ensure all patients are fully informed of the risks and benefits of proposed procedures / treatments contributing to the process securing informed consent.
17. Achieve a range of clinical competencies as required to fulfill the role.
18. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care process as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
19. Provide comfort to the patients and maintain a safe environment and identification of potential risk for all patients and visitors; take action as and when required.
20. Take over the charge from duty nurse of previous shift regarding patients (bed to bed), instrument supplies, drugs etc and handed over the same to the next shift.
21. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
22. Identifies and reports to the Nursing Supervisor, areas of nursing care delivery that requires in service education and initiates action to correct the problem. Immediately reports any unusual occurrences and document appropriately in the patient record.
23. Work as a team leader when allocated to do so. Develop the role according to patients changing needs and research findings, within the resources available.
24. Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls in pleasant professional manner.
25. Observes and utilizes infection control guidelines in patient care. Observe IC standards in handling of all instruments and specimen.
26. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
28. Attends meetings and participates in committees as required.

31. performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MSc/BSc / GNM in Nursing. Attends continuing
Education activities to maintain current knowledge and skills. Active RN License
Registration and current RN license in state Current BLS/ACLS certification. Sufficient previous Clinical experience in General Wards.
Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/ walking and moving. Positions, pushes and/ or transfers patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching. Lifts supplies / Equipment
