Job Description : Assumes responsibility for and is accountable for the 24 hour delivery of nursing care consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of SeCURE Hospital. Utilizes principles of nursing management and the nursing process to achieve optimal patient care. Primary functions are to supervise, instruct and guide nursing and auxiliary personnel, improving the quality of patient care services. Administrative Responsibilities: • Plans and organizes activities of nursing services at unit level. • Ensure patient needs, nursing staff welfare and development are met in accordance with instructions of CENTRE HEAD / Head-Nursing Services & organizational policies. • Assigns, supervises, guides and instructs nursing staff in providing comprehensive nursing services including accurate documentation according to individual skills and with available resources. • Supervises activities of ground staff and plans training. • Imparts discipline among the nursing staff and other support services. • Acts as first line supervisor for designated staff, including hiring, training, overseeing work, participating in disciplinary decisions and actions, establishing and evaluating appropriate performance standards in accordance with SeCURE Hospital. • s policies and with the approval of Head - Nursing Services wherever applicable. • Ensure safety of patients, visitors, nursing staff and health care team members. • Anticipate staffing requirements and plan shift duties as per patient (client) needs/demands. • Maintain high standards of confidentiality while addressing grievances and sensitive information related to organizational policies or patient care. • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to make corrections. Prepares reports and submits them to CENTRE HEAD and Head - Nursing Services. • Updates nursing team and self with the latest trends and advances in nursing field and health care. • Certify achievements and plan strategies to overcome deficiencies by constantly evaluating performance. Chalking out unit specific career path, growth plan, retention strategies. • Identify potential candidates who can be trained to become trainers. • Train, monitor and evaluate student nurses during their clinical training and internship programs. Quality Improvement Responsibilities: Develop quality management tools and standards at unit level to measure: 1. Quality of nursing care delivered. 2. Infection control activities of nursing staff and ground staff. 3. Wound management. 4. Department specific QI* study by encouraging and involving nursing team and other team members. Ex:*QI of RO plant, QI for Ventilator Assisted Pneumonia, QI for pain management, etc. Responsible for implementation of nursing related NABH policies and procedures. Skills/Qualifications: 1. M.Sc Nursing / B.Sc Nursing / P.C.B.Sc Nursing / GNM. : o MSc: Five years of professional nursing experience which includes one year of administrative/ supervisory experience in similar capacity. o BSc: Seven years of professional nursing experience which includes one to two years of administrative/supervisory experience in similar capacity. o PCBSc: Five years of professional nursing experience after PCBSc (must have two years of clinical experience post GNM) which includes one to two years of administrative/supervisory experience in similar capacity. o GNM: 7+ years of professional nursing experience which includes 2 to 3 years of administrative/supervisory experience in similar capacity. 2.
