Staff DevOps Engineer

Role Overview: As a Staff DevOps Engineer at Qualifacts, you will play a critical role in the Software Development Lifecycle. You will have direct interaction with team members from various departments, collaborating to research, design, and implement new technologies that support the platform and development tools. The goal is to enable teams to deliver high-quality changes to users quickly, safely, and reliably. Your work will involve encouraging and promoting industry best practices for software development and delivery, establishing a continuous improvement mindset, and facilitating the integration of code, security scanning, application testing, and operations team involvement in software delivery. Key Responsibilities: - Design and build automated solutions for provisioning infrastructure, configuring resources, and deploying software solutions. - Review and manage complex systems and solutions as part of a cross-functional domain team. - Propose, develop, and train team members on improvements to processes, tooling, and automation. - Work directly with scrum teams to support complex tasks requiring detailed research and troubleshooting. - Generate automated solutions for use by scrum teams and technical operations team members in day-to-day activities. - Provide systems and infrastructure perspective to solutions architects, software developers, and quality assurance teams during solution design and implementation. - Implement tooling to support the measuring of metrics related to security vulnerabilities, code quality, and build/release activities. - Conduct tool evaluation, perform proof of concepts, and propose solutions to new and existing activities. - Collaborate with system administrators to provide expertise and technical support, including hands-on efforts to ensure that proposed technology implementations are viable. - Support the hardening of applications and building solutions to improve stability for features before operations handoff. - Work closely with software engineering and system administrators to ensure successful rollout of software solutions. - Support the transition of software solutions from project implementation close to technical operations for ongoing maintenance. - Work with scrum teams to provide technical support for internal infrastructure and environments. - Perform deployments of release artifacts to internal environments and harden processes for deployment. - Configure, deploy, monitor, and support tools related to the SDLC process. - Generate solutions related to monitoring and observability. - Support and assist solution architects and scrum teams in performance testing of software solutions. - Generate documentation related to processes, standards, feature rollout, troubleshooting, and solution maintenance activities. Qualifications: - Solid experience with system administration, software development, agile/DevOps practices, and open-source technologies. - Experience with configuration management systems and tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or equivalent. - Experience leading initiatives, preferably as part of a cross-functional team. - Advanced experience in building, deploying, monitoring, and supporting web-based applications, including traditional web applications and containerized solutions. - Experience implementing DevOps methods and tools such as agile/scrum, continuous integration, automated configuration management, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, and automated build/deployment pipelines. - Expertise in generating automation for a variety of use cases in tools currently in use (Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible). - Experience with Kubernetes application development and/or administration. - Experience with database technologies such as Oracle, MariaDB, MongoDB, and MySQL.
