Position Overview

The Staff Accounting Supervisor should have expertise in delivering E2E accounting operations in an outsourcing set-up. Charged with shaping a high-performing team, this role is pivotal in hiring, coaching, and mobilizing accounting professionals to deliver timely and precise close cycles, audit coordination, and policy enforcement. With a sharp focus on risk mitigation, systematized controls, and continuous enhancement of accounting processes, the supervisor not only safeguards compliance, but also elevates departmental standards. This position embodies both hands-on leadership and strategic oversight, translating complex accounting challenges into actionable improvements across the accounting function

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Manage and supervise daily accounting functions, including financial accounting, accounts payable, and payroll processing activities

2. Review and validate all general ledger transactions, journal entries, and financial statement preparations to ensure compliance with GAAP, accuracy of accruals, and timeliness of month-end and year-end close process

3. Oversee and approve balance sheet and bank reconciliations, cash and revenue transactions, and month-end/year-end close packets to ensure accuracy, GAAP compliance, and timely financial reporting

4. Serve as the single point of contact for clients on all accounting-related queries, discrepancies, and process coordination to ensure effective communication and timely resolution

5. Establish, maintain, and enforce robust internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure compliance across accounting functions

6. Manage timely preparation, review, and accuracy of periodic financial statements and corporate reports

7. Coordinate external audit activities, providing necessary documentation and resolving auditor inquiries

8. Ensure adherence to GAAP and other regulatory financial reporting standards and requirements

9. Review and analyze budget reports & partner with departments in annual budget development

10. Ensure documentation of accounting policies and procedures and recommend process improvements for efficiency

11. Liaise with cross-functional teams to align accounting objectives and support organizational goals

12. Monitor regulatory compliance, escalating concerns and ensuring up-to-date adherence with government requirements

13. Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal government regulations and requirements

14. Drive continuous process enhancements, lead special projects, and execute additional assigned responsibilities

15. Lead recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to build and develop a high-performing accounting team

  • High proficiency in GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, revenue recognition, regulatory compliance, and internal controls
  • Demonstrates exceptional stakeholder management by building effective relationships, proactively addressing concerns, and aligning expectations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities to oversee month-end closing and resolve complex accounting issues
  • Familiarity with intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and international transactions, including foreign exchange
  • Proven leadership skills to recruit, develop, and manage high-performing accounting teams
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive process improvement initiatives

Education/Training and Certification, Licensure, Registration Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or finance.
  • Relevant professional training or certifications in accounting or finance.
  • Must have expertise in US GAAP accounting principal knowledge

Experience

(Minimum number of years of relevant experience required to perform the essential functions of the role.)

  • Must have 7-10 years of experience in accounting outsourcing service delivery and transformation
  • Must have 5+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience with financial systems (Concur/ Microsoft Dynamics /Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite, QuickBooks etc.), SAAS tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong background in accounting and tax preparation, and using financial reporting software
  • Experience in managing fast-paced accounting teams with evolving functions

  • Professional office environment. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
