The primary purpose of this role is to define and execute the product and engineering strategy for core technology platform. This platform will be foundation for offering Lowe s proprietary retail technology platforms to external customers. The leader in the role is responsible for driving the development of highly scalable, reliable and commercially viable platform services. This role demands a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic product vision and the commercial acumen to translate internal retail capabilities into marketable, enterprise-grade technology solutions.
This position partners closely with senior business leaders, customers, and external partners to shape the company s digital and commercial strategies, ensuring alignment between technology capabilities, customer needs, and business objectives. The role leads teams that deliver innovation at scale, ensuring operational excellence and strategic growth.
What You Will Do
Platform Strategy Leadership
Define and own the technical and product roadmap for the commercialization platform, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy and market opportunities. Establish and scale high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams across product management, software engineering, and platform operations (DevOps/SRE), setting a standard for technical excellence and product execution. Act as the primary technical interface to executive leadership, business development, and external partners, articulating the platforms value proposition and technical architecture. Drive architectural decisions for the platform, ensuring it is built for scalability, multi-tenancy, security, compliance, and ease of integration by external clients.
Product Engineering Execution
Translate Lowes existing, proven retail capabilities into modular, API-driven platform services suitable for commercialization. Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and definition of Minimum Viable Product (MVP) features to launch, iteration, and long-term maintenance. Owns the user experience and sets the direction for the design of the user experience of products within product portfolio. Instill a strong product management discipline, leveraging market analysis, partner and customer feedback to prioritize features and optimize platform monetization. Champion modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, cloud-native development, microservices, and automated testing to ensure the platform meets enterprise SLAs.
Commercial Operational Excellence
Collaborate closely with Sales and Business Development to define technical service offerings, pricing models, and support structures that meet the needs of customers. Ensure the platform adheres to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., data privacy, security certifications) necessary for B2B commercialization. Manage platform budget, resource allocation, and vendor relationships to optimize operational efficiency and investment in key technical areas.
Leadership Organizational Impact
Build and lead high-performing, inclusive teams with a strong culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Act as a bridge between commercialization unit and Lowe s technology organization strategically leveraging existing enterprise platform while ensuring commercial platform maintains necessary independence and agility. Lead change management that improve cross-functional collaboration, customer focus, and business agility. Serve as a thought leader in both technology and business forums, influencing internal stakeholders and external partners on the strategic value of digital transformation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree). 12+ years of IT experience, with progressive responsibility across software engineering, architecture, or technology management. 7+ years of experience leading global technology teams with direct people management responsibility. 4+ years of experience partnering with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, portfolio planning, and business transformation. 5+ years of experience managing operational and/or financial budgets, including oversight of third-party vendors, system integrators, and software providers. Deep understanding of technology commercialization, product-market alignment, and customer-centric solution design. Proven experience leading enterprise-scale software delivery using established software development life cycles (SDLC) and modern engineering practices. Demonstrated ability to translate business goals into technology strategy and deliver measurable outcomes aligned with organizational objectives. Demonstrated ability to navigate enterprise complexity while maintaining startup-level agility and innovation. Strong executive communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills across both technical and commercial domains.
Preferred Skills / Education
Master s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. 5+ years of experience in agile software development and continuous delivery environments. Experience with AI/ML platform components as a commercial service. Experience in a leadership role within a large, matrixed enterprise, preferably in retail, consumer goods, or technology sectors. Proven success in managing cross-functional business systems implementations, integrations, and modernization programs. Experience in IT consulting or working with strategic vendors to deliver high-impact enterprise solutions. Second-level IT management experience (Director or above) overseeing multiple portfolios or product domains. Track record of developing and executing go-to-market (GTM) strategies, including partnership management, commercial enablement, and technology-driven business development. Experience collaborating with sales and business units to co-develop technology-led revenue opportunities, partnerships, or client solutions.
