About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our Technology team at BP Energy. This pivotal role involves collaborating closely with colleagues across the Technology and Business units, particularly in Production and Operations (P&O). The Business Analyst acts as a bridge between business objectives and technological solutions, providing deep domain expertise to facilitate effective communication, requirements gathering, and solution delivery. The ideal candidate will leverage techniques such as data analysis, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and training sessions to understand business needs, define clear requirements, and support the development of innovative solutions. Monitoring progress, driving efficiency, and maintaining strong relationships with both technical and commercial partners are essential components of this role, ensuring alignment and successful project execution. The role offers an exciting opportunity to influence technological advancements and operational improvements within a dynamic energy environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in business analysis, complemented by relevant experience and educational background. Key qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within the energy, manufacturing, or renewable sectors.
- Proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and visualization tools such as Power BI, ADO, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex projects independently.
- Excellent communication skillsboth oral and writtenwith the ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of business analysis principles, requirements elicitation, stakeholder management, and process mapping.
- Experience in supporting business process changes and implementing improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Preferred candidates will have familiarity with data management strategies, digital security, and integration techniques, along with a demonstrated ability to lead initiatives from conception to completion.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities of this role encompass a variety of critical functions aimed at aligning business needs with technology solutions:
- User Research: Engage with end-users to observe workflows, analyze interactions, and extract insights that inform system improvements. This involves process mapping, identifying pain points, and connecting learnings to potential technological solutions.
- Requirements Definition: Lead efforts to elicit, document, and refine business requirements through interviews, workshops, and analysis of existing documentation. Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure solutions meet both business and user needs.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technology domains, ensuring effective communication, alignment, and collaboration throughout project lifecycles.
- Service Delivery: Diagnose issues, coordinate with support teams to resolve defects, and document change requests clearly. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and responsiveness.
- Business Process Change: Facilitate workshops to analyze and optimize business processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement changes that increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Data Analysis: Support data-driven decision-making by analyzing datasets, understanding data models, and providing insights and recommendations based on comprehensive data analysis.
