About the role We are seeking an experienced Java Web Application Developer with a strong background in legacy Java technologies. The ideal candidate will focus on analyzing and remediating vulnerabilities, upgrading dependencies, and enhancing legacy codebases to align with modern security and maintainability standards. This role requires hands-on experience with JSP, Servlets, Maven/Gradle, and version control using Git. Key responsibilities Analyze and remediate vulnerabilities in legacy Java web applications, particularly cross-site scripting (XSS) and related security issues Upgrade and manage Java dependencies such as Apache Commons FileUpload, Spring Framework, and other critical libraries Refactor and modernize legacy codebases with a focus on secure and maintainable coding practices Utilize Git for source control, adhering to branching strategies, pull requests, and code review best practices Collaborate effectively with distributed teams and contribute to a culture of code quality and continuous improvement Requirements 5+ years of professional experience in Java web application development Strong expertise in JSP, Servlets, and traditional Java web technologies Hands-on experience with Maven or Gradle for dependency and build management Proficient in Eclipse IDE for Java development Excellent command of Git, including workflows involving branches, pull requests, and peer code reviews Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within distributed teams Equal opportunity Themesoft Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
