About Lady Andal House of Children


Lady Andal House of Children (LAHOC) is an established special school in Chennai, founded by The Madras Seva Sadan, a renowned institution with a long-standing and respected legacy in education. Centrally located on a scenic campus, LAHOC is dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.


The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

We are building a dynamic team of special educators and educators to work with learners with multiple disabilities and to guide participants in the NIOS programme. LAHOC aims to support parents in the schooling jouney of their special child by collecting a highly subsidised fee. Who are we looking for


Speech and Language Therapist


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assess students' speech, language, and communication abilities using standardised tests and informal evaluations.
  • Develop and implement Individualised Therapy Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s specific needs and goals.
  • Provide one-on-one and group speech therapy sessions to improve articulation, fluency, language comprehension, and expressive communication.
  • Work closely with special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists and parents to support integrated student development.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress and adapt therapy plans as needed.
  • Assist in the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools when appropriate.
  • Educate and train staff and caregivers on communication strategies and support techniques.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain detailed records and comply with all school policies and regulatory standards.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Valid certification or license to practice as a Speech Therapist (as per local/state regulations).
  • 3 to 7 years working with children and adults with multiple disabilities
  • Experience working with children with special needs preferred.
  • A bilingual medium of instruction requires candidates to be proficient in English and Tamil
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and specialised instructional strategies.
  • Patience, empathy and strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and assistive aids, and devices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Good organisational and documentation skills
