Job Description

As a Speech Therapist working with children on the Autism Spectrum, you will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy, as well as augmentative communication. Your role will involve working under the supervision of a behaviour specialist and should have familiarity with picture exchange communication systems (PECS) and sign language. Key Responsibilities: - Assess the students' communication skills, including articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, to identify communication challenges and develop appropriate program plans. - Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEP) based on the child's needs in collaboration with the lead teacher. - Maintain files and records such as progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and quarterly reports on the progress of the student. - Maintain a team-based approach within the entire school program. Qualifications Required: - Relevant degree and certification in Speech Therapy. - Experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum. - Familiarity with augmentative communication methods such as PECS and sign language. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
