The Speech Therapist will work with children on the Autism Spectrum, who have limited or emerging language, under the supervision of a behaviour specialist. You will be responsible for providing speech and language therapy as well as augmentative communication. It is essential to have some familiarity with picture exchange communication systems (PECS) and sign language. Your main responsibilities will include assessing the students" communication skills such as articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language to identify communication challenges and develop appropriate program plans. You will work collaboratively with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEP) based on the child's needs. As a Speech Therapist, you will be required to maintain files and records including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and quarterly reports on the progress of the students. It is important to maintain a team-based approach within the entire school program to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
