Spectro Testing Engineer (NDT Level II / UTM Level II Certified)

Reporting To: Quality Head / Quality Assurance Manager

Location: 6L Road,Liluah Howrah

Job Purpose:

To perform precise and accurate spectrochemical and non-destructive testing (NDT) of materials to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and internal quality requirements. The role requires technical expertise in spectrometer operation, mechanical testing (UTM), and NDT techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Spectrochemical Analysis

  • Operate and maintain Spectrometer (Spectro Testing Machine) for chemical composition analysis.
  • Verify incoming material composition as per heat number and MTC.
  • Prepare and calibrate samples before testing.
  • Maintain records and generate spectro test reports.
  • Ensure results meet BIS/ASTM/IS standards and project requirements. Mechanical Testing (UTM Level II)
  • Perform Universal Testing Machine (UTM) operations for tensile, compression, and bending tests.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Record and analyze test results.
  • Prepare detailed test reports for submission.Non-Destructive Testing (NDT Level II)
  • Conduct NDT methods such as Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle, Radiographic, and Penetrant Testing.
  • Interpret results and identify discontinuities.
  • Prepare inspection reports with accurate findings.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability. Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure procedures comply with ISO 9001:2015 and customer QAP.
  • Support third-party inspections and audits.
  • Follow safety and environmental regulations.
  • Coordinate with production and QA teams for material release.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in handling spectrometer and UTM machines.
  • Thorough knowledge of NDT techniques (UT, MT, PT, RT).
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills.
  • Understanding of metallurgical properties and material science.
  • Good report-writing and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to quality, accuracy, and deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Certified in NDT Level II (UT / MT / PT / RT).
  • UTM Level II certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience in structural, fabrication, or heavy engineering preferred.

Work Environment:

Workshop and laboratory-based role with periodic site inspection visits. Coordination with internal teams and external inspection agencies.

Remuneration:

Commensurate with experience and industry standards.
