Role Summary

Solution Architect

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirement Gathering & Process Mapping

• Engage with business stakeholders to capture functional and technical requirements.
  
• Map manufacturing processes to

  ISA-95

  models and standards.
• Develop functional specifications for MES modules including production execution, quality, inventory, and maintenance.
  
• Support discrete manufacturing environments such as automotive, aerospace, and electronics.
  

2. Solution Design & Fit–Gap Analysis

• Conduct requirement and solution design workshops with cross-functional teams.
  
• Perform

  fit–gap analysis

  against standard MES features and site-specific needs.
• Configure MES capabilities including scheduling, sequencing, genealogy, traceability, Andon, and OEE modules.
  

3. Integration & Testing

• Work closely with ERP teams (e.g., SAP), SCADA engineers, and PLC vendors.
  
• Support end-to-end integrations across IT–OT layers, including interface design and mapping.
  
• Lead system testing, integration testing, UAT, and validation activities.
  
• Ensure reliable and secure data flow between enterprise systems and plant-floor systems.
  

4. Deployment & Change Management

• Lead MES and SCADA deployments across multiple manufacturing sites.
  
• Develop training materials and conduct hands-on end-user training sessions.
  
• Provide hyper-care support during and after go-live phases.
  
• Align solution delivery with operational KPIs and business objectives.
  

5. Ignition SCADA Architecture

• Architect, configure, and deploy

  Ignition SCADA

  and MES-based applications.
• Implement real-time data acquisition, visualization, alarming, and reporting solutions.
  
• Optimize performance, scalability, and robustness of Ignition gateways and projects.
  

6. OT–IT Integration & Data Management

• Integrate PLC/SCADA/MES systems with enterprise IT platforms such as ERP, cloud, and databases.
  
• Implement secure and efficient data exchange using:
  

• REST APIs

• MQTT

• OPC UA

• Manage industrial data storage using SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, time-series databases, and historians.
  

7. Leadership & Support

• Serve as a technical leader across Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing initiatives.
  
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve SCADA/MES reliability to minimize downtime.
  
• Mentor junior engineers and facilitate cross-team knowledge-sharing.
  

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 10+ years

  of SCADA/MES experience in manufacturing environments.
• Expert-level proficiency in

  Ignition SCADA

  , including:
• Scripting (Python)
  
• Module configuration
  
• Project deployment and gateway architecture
  
• Strong command of MES functions:
  
• Production tracking
  
• OEE
  
• Downtime analysis
  
• Traceability
  
• SPC
  
• Deep understanding of OT–IT communication protocols:

• Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems: PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, plant networks.
  
• Proficiency in industrial databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.).
  
• Familiarity with key industry standards:

• ISA-88

• ISA-99 / IEC 62443

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with cloud-based IIoT platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, etc.).
  
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity practices and hardened architectures.
  
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  
• Exposure to enterprise-scale Industry 4.0 and digital transformation programs.
  

Certifications (Preferred)

• Ignition Gold Certified Specialist

  (strongly preferred).
• OPC UA certification.
  
• Relevant IT/OT, automation, or cybersecurity certifications.
