Software Tester – Job Description

Position: Software Tester
Department: QA / Engineering
Location: On-site
Experience: 1–5 years (flexible)

Role Overview

You will be responsible for checking product quality before release. This includes functional testing, regression checks, writing test cases, reporting bugs, and working closely with developers and product owners. The goal is to make sure every module works as expected, performs well, and meets the acceptance criteria.

Key Responsibilities1. Test Planning & Documentation

• Understand requirements, SRS, and user flows.
• Create test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases.
• Prepare UAT checklists and regression test suites.

2. Functional Testing

• Test new features end-to-end across web and mobile.
• Validate forms, APIs, UI/UX, workflows, and data integrity.
• Verify security and permission flows based on roles.

3. Regression & Re-testing

• Re-test resolved issues.
• Run planned regression tests after every build or deployment.
• Track repeated failures and patterns.

4. Bug Reporting

• Log defects with clear steps, screenshots, or videos.
• Prioritize issues (Critical/High/Medium/Low).
• Coordinate with developers until closure.

5. Tools & Automation (Good to Have)

• JIRA, MantisBT, Redmine, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of Postman, browser devtools, and SQL basics.
• Optional: Playwright/Selenium for automation.

6. Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work with developers, product managers, designers, and DevOps.
• Participate in daily standups, sprint reviews, and release checks.
• Give clear feedback during UAT.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of SDLC and STLC.
• Ability to write clean, repeatable test cases.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Basic understanding of databases (MySQL preferred).
• Ability to test REST APIs.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with load testing (JMeter).
• Basic API automation.
• Understanding of QA metrics like defect density, test coverage, and cycle time.

Education

B.Tech / BCA / MCA or relevant experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹25,000.00 per month
