Job Description

As an L2 Storage / Backup Specialist with a secondary role as a Server Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to manage enterprise storage, backup, and server infrastructure within a large-scale VDI environment. Your expertise in storage provisioning, data management, backup technologies, hardware lifecycle management, and vendor coordination will be crucial for the success of this role. Key Responsibilities: - Storage Administration (Primary Role) - Health Monitoring & Capacity Management - Perform PowerMax/Storage system health checks and monitor component statuses. - Monitor storage resource pools (SRP) and apply data reduction policies (compression, deduplication). - Analyze storage logs to identify bottlenecks, performance issues, or configuration errors. - Provisioning & Configuration - Create and configure Storage Groups, Port Groups, Host Groups, and Masking Views. - Provision new LUNs on PMAX SAN and map them to host groups. - Create and expand NAS file systems and tree quotas. - Create shares for Windows/Linux clients and enable departmental drives. - Optimization & Lifecycle Management - Perform storage performance tuning and optimization activities. - Manage the snapshot lifecycle (creation, monitoring, and deletion). - Expand storage volumes and increase user data allocation as required. - Issue Resolution & Vendor Coordination - Log hardware incidents with OEMs (e.g., Dell) and coordinate until closure. - Monitor and resolve critical alerts following firmware updates. - Hardware Monitoring & Diagnostics - Monitor hardware health for management servers, blade servers, and chassis. - Collect and analyze hardware logs; perform corrective actions based on analysis. - Raise and follow up with vendor tickets for hardware failures. - Server Administration (Secondary Role) - Hardware Monitoring & Diagnostics - Monitor hardware health for management servers, blade servers, and chassis. - Collect and analyze hardware logs; perform corrective actions based on analysis. - Raise and follow up with vendor tickets for hardware failures. - Firmware & Patch Management - Perform firmware and security patch updates on: - Management servers - Blade servers - Chassis - IDRAC - VxRail - Prepare SOPs and plan-of-action documents; execute scheduled maintenance tasks.
