Senior Sourcing Manager

Role & responsibilities

Identification and selection of suitable suppliers to support new product developments and as well as alternate source projects. Development and execution of global sourcing strategies for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) used in generic drug products. This role ensures reliable, cost-effective and compliant API supply chain to support Fresenius Kabis global manufacturing operations including self-dependent management of the supplier portfolio.

The following tasks are concluded independently by the Senior Sourcing Manager:

• Identify and evaluate API suppliers for new development and alternate source projects in accordance with regulatory, quality and commercial requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance throughout development and ensure seamless transfer to commercial sourcing teams.
• Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for APIs, aligned with company objectives.
• Establish strong supplier relationship management including negotiations of supply agreements, pricing and contract terms to optimize cost and supply reliability.
• Preparation, distribution and evaluation of RFP/RFQs with suppliers for relevant supply projects.
• Maintain up-to-date supplier intelligence and market insights to identify new sourcing opportunities and mitigate risk.
• Monitoring market trends and price developments affecting the global API market.
• Identification and support of local/regional requirements.
• Cross-functional cooperation with internal key stakeholders including Portfolio, commercial operations, Regulatory, I&D Centers and Quality Assurance.
• Budget responsibility for relevant Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
• Attendance of fairs and exhibitions
• Regular global supplier visits (business reviews and technical meetings)
• Travel

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 10 years job experience in API sourcing/procurement/Supply Chain within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Strong knowledge about the pharmaceutical industry including manufacturing process, GMP and regulatory requirements (FDA, EDQM, DMF, CEPs).
• Proven experience in supplier selection and contract negotiation skills including knowledge of contractual laws and obligations in an international background.
• Fluent in English (additional language advantageous).
